Kraft Paper Liquor Bags for Retail and Beverage Service
Liquor bags are reinforced kraft paper bags sized specifically for retail bottle takeout — wine, spirits, craft beer six-packs, growlers. The aspect ratio is tall and narrow with reinforced base corners to hold the weight of a glass bottle without tearing. Standard kraft is the dominant material; specialty variants include foil-windowed (for premium positioning) and plastic-gusseted (extra-heavy-duty).
The two dominant sizes are the "fifth" bag (handles a 750ml bottle — most retail wine, spirits, liquor) and the "handle" bag (sized for 1.75L bottles). Some operators also stock six-pack bags for craft beer growler service.
Are liquor bags any different from regular paper bags?+
Yes. Liquor bags are tall, narrow, and reinforced at the bottom corners to hold heavy glass bottles without tearing. The aspect ratio (4–5" wide × 12–17" tall) is tuned for vertical bottle transport. Standard SOS bags would either bulge unsupported around a bottle or split at the base.
Are liquor bags compostable?+
Natural kraft liquor bags (no coating, no plastic window, no laminated handle) are compostable in any program accepting unbleached paper. Some upscale variants have a foil window or reinforced plastic gusset — those are NOT compostable.
Can liquor bags be custom printed?+
Yes. Brand and retailer logos print well on kraft liquor bags with 1–2 color flexo at ~50,000 unit minimums. Wine retailers and craft spirits brands often print custom liquor bags as a low-cost in-store branding touch.
How are liquor bags shipped?+
500 per case for fifth-size bags, 250 per case for handle-size bags. Flat-packed. Pallet density is moderate (60–100 cases per pallet).
Do liquor bags need to be specially permitted for sale?+
No — they're paper. The bag is sold as packaging. State alcohol regulations affect what can be sold inside the bag, but the bag itself is unregulated. Some jurisdictions REQUIRE plain (unprinted) liquor bags at point of sale to discourage public intoxication; check local rules if you're branding bags for retail giveaway.
