Pre-Assembled Cutlery Kits
Cutlery kits are pre-assembled, sealed packages containing the flatware a single customer needs for one meal. The kit pouch eliminates the back-of-house assembly step and guarantees every takeout or delivery order ships with the right utensils. Common configurations: 3-piece (fork + knife + napkin), 4-piece (add spoon), or 5-piece (add salt/pepper packet).
The most common kit pack is fork + knife + napkin in a sealed pouch. Larger kits add a spoon, a salt-and-pepper packet, and sometimes a wet-wipe or toothpick. Quick-service restaurants and delivery operators typically order the 3-piece (fork/knife/napkin) or 5-piece (full meal) format.
Why use a kit instead of loose cutlery?+
Speed and consistency. A kit goes in the bag in one motion versus 3–4 motions for loose pieces. For delivery, kits prevent the "where's my fork?" customer complaints by guaranteeing every order has the full set. Pre-sealed kits also pass hygiene-sensitive contracts (institutional, healthcare) that mandate single-use sealed flatware.
Are cutlery kits more expensive per piece than bulk cutlery?+
Yes, roughly 1.5–2× per piece due to the assembly labor and the pouch material. The tradeoff is reduced packing time on the back-end (~5 seconds saved per order) plus the marketing value of branded kit pouches.
Can cutlery kits be customized with a logo?+
Yes — the outer pouch is the most common branding surface. Pouches print well in 1 or 2 colors with a 6–8 week lead time and a typical minimum of 50,000 units. For smaller volumes, generic kraft or white pouches are stocked items.
How are kits packed for shipping?+
Typical case pack is 250 or 500 sealed kits, depending on kit size. A 5-piece kit case occupies more volume per unit than a 3-piece kit. Pallet density varies from ~50 to 130 cases.
Are compostable cutlery kits available?+
Yes — CPLA cutlery (heat-stable PLA) paired with an unbleached kraft napkin and a kraft pouch is the standard compostable kit format. The full kit is BPI-certified at the unit level. Cost runs 2–3× a standard PP kit.
